June 24-29
This week followed the Washington Conference and the National Ice Cream Party. After snapping more than 200 photographs, I began to organize the media from the events. Not only did I take pictures, but IDFA also had two professional photographers from the events that uploaded photographs to their Flickr accounts. I downloaded the photographs and organized the pictures in a manner that would make it easy to display. I then created an album on Facebook and uploaded photographs from the events.
After I uploaded the photographs to IDFA's Facebook page, which you can view here, I began to organize the movie clips I took from the ice cream party. At the party, I suggested to my supervisors that we create a promotional video for next year's party. My supervisors assigned me to take video clips of the ice cream party and interview people about ice cream related topics. I downloaded Adobe Premiere to my computer and attempted to create a short video highlighting this year's ice cream party. Unfortunately, my computer had issues with the large file sizes of the video clips I took. This project was put on hold for the following two weeks.
In the middle of the week, my supervisors met with me and the other intern, Shannon, to talk about social media strategies for National Ice Cream Month in July. Shannon and I posed the idea of holding a Instagram/Facebook contest in order to generate attention to IDFA ice ice cream members while also promoting National Ice Cream Month and ice cream products. Shannon and I researched about holding contests on both Facebook and Instagram and we decided that Instagram would be the best method of sharing photographs. We began to outline the materials we needed for the contest and how we would market it. We decided to hold a photo contest on Instagram to raise awareness about National Ice Cream Month and see how people were celebrating.
