July 1 - 5
This week marked the week of 4th of July. The office was not as busy as it normally was because many people took off the week to visit family and friends in celebration of Independence Day. My supervisor Marti took off this week, but I still came into the office until the closing hours. Monday, July 1st, was the first day of National Ice Cream Month. I pitched numerous ideas on how we can use social media to raise awareness about National Ice Cream Month.
The communications team created an Instagram contest. Users would post photographs and use the hashtag "#IceCreamMonth" in the caption of their photograph and tag @DairyIDFA, the IDFA Instagram account. After users posted photographs and used the appropriate tags, they would be entered to win free ice cream that week. Every Friday throughout the month of July, the communication team and I would choose a winner based on the number of "likes" the photographs had. After pitching my idea and receiving approval from the vice president of communications, I began to work out the logistics for the contest.
I reviewed the work of Lilly Pulitzer's recent Instagram contest and used some of their ideas to launch IDFA's Ice Cream Photo Contest on July 3rd. I created a photograph for Instagram highlighting what people could do to enter into their photographs of ice cream into the contest. I also worked with the communication department to create a page on the website highlighting National Ice Cream Month. Below I included a link to the webpage that shares information about National Ice Cream Month that I helped create.
